Congrats!

Congratulations Viv! When do you start? That's really exciting news! :-D

I'm doing alright. I've been debating whether I should quit soccer. The company has a team which is part of a local community league. I don't know if I should continue playing. We have games only once a week (Saturdays around noon). Lately (past few months), I haven't really been participating. I like playing soccer but I really suck. People are nice and encouraging, but at the same time, I don't really feel comfortable with anyone. (I've tried being friendly too). Anyway, I just feel like giving it up altogether as I kind of feel bogged down with it all. It doesn't make me feel good anymore. Well, I guess I made my decision.

On to a .. dilemma. So I've been working for about a yr and a half now. It's alright. I can't say I love it. The good thing is management has been trying to get me to focus on a career. So one goal of mine is to focus on my career: within the company and outside of it; and then whether outside of it would lead me elsewhere. Currently, I don't see myself here forever. blah..blah..blah. Point: I'd like some ideas/advice about jobs/activities any of you could recommend - things/jobs you could see me doing (based on your knowledge of me, i.e., strengths, weaknesses, etc.) I'm not asking you guys to pick a job for me (although that's what it sounds like), I'd just want some outside perspective and your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Where'd everyone go?

HI ALL!

So I wanted to let you guys know the good news. I GOT INTO CCA!!!!!

I totally meant fake designer bag

Send me some pics of what you like. If I see something I'll get it. If not, then I won't but at least I'll have an idea.

I'm not going to be in China. Hopefully they'll have black market goods in Singapore.

Hi there

Make up brushes at Sephora are HELLA expensive. I've been looking on ebay and China is the place to go. Shipping and handling costs the most ($20-30) in addition to the brush set. You can tell if they are good by feeling them and hairs dont fall out. That'd be nice if you could get a set but only if you have time. I don't expect it to be high priority on your list.

I don't want you to get me a designer bag. I'm throwing out the idea that you could get one if you didn't think about it. I'll get my own when I take Viv to eat a bug in a few years. :-D

Cheers!

Dude.

Serins:
I don't know that make-up brushes are that much better in Asia. You could probably get a nice set from Sephora. But if you want, I'll look into it for you.

If you want a designer bag, I can get on for you but since our styles are a little different, you should prob post some pics or send me some links of stuff you like and I'll try and find something similar.

Deb: I don't think I'm going to go out there for Easter. Mommy just called me today and asked me to come home. And her reason was that it was snowing in New York. Nevermind that it's been snowing here for the past 4 years. But whatever.

Viv:
I tried calling you today but my phone is cracked out. I dropped (threw) it a couple of times and now it's bipolar. And the antenna flew off one day. So there's a whole host of problems.

Anyway, you calling me back made me think, do you still have your old T-Mobile phone? The one you gave to Owen? Any thoughts on sending it over to me? Or any old T-Mobile phone?

Thanks.

Night, all.

Souvenirs Part 3?

I know what else I'd like em. :-) I'd like a NICE make up brush set. None of that tiny travel set stuff though. No Mary Kay. Don't pay more than $20 either. Alright fine, $30. Wait, $25. I'm totally willing pay you back. Maybe $20. They shouldn't cost so much over there. ($20-$30).

They also have nice designer bags there but still too expensive for my tastes, and I'm way too picky. I still have that pretty flower bag you gave me in Dec. anyway. I say get yourself one though. It's kind of cool.

I think you have to limit what you get or they take it away from you at the airport. fyi. nancy will probably tell you.

Best of luck on your finals, debs!

Finals finals finals!

That's what's going on in my life right now. That's why I've been MIA. I try not to get on the computer too much right now b/c I get sucked in.
Anyways, I only hung out with Brian on Sunday. I believe he leaves Wednesday evening. I hope he had fun here. We showed him around a little. Mostly residential area b/c he covered the touristy stuff with his co-workers. Then he went house-hunting with us. I did give him a choice. James and I are checking out the market. We're looking to expand in the next year or so.
Em, you're welcome to come anytime. Funny that you should choose that week though. That's the only week that I'm working full-time, April 9th-13th. My usual schedule is all day Tues and Thursdays, and part day, 8:30am-12:30am, on Mon and Wed. I don't usually work on Fridays, but I will begin nannying for someone on Fridays soon, after April 13th--still tentative though. Let me know what you decide. I can still hang out evenings that particular week. School will be done by tomorrow night.
I'll write more when finals are over.

Dude

Dang em, you scared the crap out of me with the title. tone the drama. :P Interesting article though. What have you been up to?

Debs, how's it going? How was hanging out with Brian? I heard you went to go look at houses. You and James thinking of buying another?

OMG. We're all going to die!

Naw

Your class sounds like fun.

The Wii would be cool. I was talking about Shanghai and Beijing. $25 or so? No I haven't read the books you mentioned em. I haven't started reading my book regarding drawing yet. I have some others to finish first. You can borrow it though. I am currently reading "Natural History of the Senses" (too lazy to underline). nonfiction but interesting. I'm still moving in. I will be officially moved in by april. I sort of told her. That'd be cool. alrighty peeps, it's late here so good night. :)

Maybe my true calling is sweatshop worker

I'm taking a sewing class at FIT (the SF State of NY). The class project is a pair of pajama pants, which sounds simple but is more complicated than I thought. Anyway, I like the class. I'm learning different seams and hems and how to use a sewing machine. It's all basic stuff I wish I could have learned from Mommy.

Dude, video games is a good idea. I hope they have the Wii out there. I mean considering it is probably made in China. Though I guess I'm not technically going to China. Damn!

I'm basically just going to eat everything in sight. Hasn't really hit me yet that I am going. It's about a month away and I haven't prepped for it at all except to buy my ticket. I'm looking forward to it but in a distant sort of way.

Saw Running With Scissors and A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints this weekend. Serins have you read the book yet? It's so much better than the movie. A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints was good but sad. James cried. (Ha.) :) Anyway, did you finish Drawing with the Right Side of Your Brain? Can I borrow? Is it good? How did the move-in go? Did you tell Mommy? Email me your new address. Maybe I'll get you stuff for your apt in Asia.

Deb, I think I do want to go out to Seattle soon. Maybe for the weekend of April 8? What do you think about it?

Viv have you heard of Catherine Feeny? There's a really good song by her "Mr. Blue" that I think you'd like.

Owen. Where are you?

Cheerio chicks. Have a good day.

Checking In

what? no more posts!? hehe. odd

Em, I heard you can get a PSP for cheap in China. If you can find a Nintendo DS , I'd want that :) or maybe some cool accessory of sorts?

alrighty, that's all for now.

Souvenirs 2

Hey Em,
Are you sure you're gonna be able to haul all the stuff I want? I guess Ill cut down my 100 page list...just kidding! How about a print gocco if they have them down there (its a screen printing machine, very small, you can make screen printed shirts. they don't sell it in the US anymore). A cute winter jacket to keep out the rain and cold or cute shoes that can be worn casually or dressy places. Maybe wood cut tools. That would be awesome! Those are just some suggestions just please don't get me a keychain because if you do i'll send you back to return it. THANKYOU!!!

Souvenir

ooo... I don't know what I want yet. Let me think about it.

FYI- I'm moving into a new apt at the end of the month. :-D

Okay

I'm sorry I misunderstood your question. I'm not familiar with the tracks for nursing and what all the different degrees entail and the differences in job function for each of them. In any case, it does sound like you're leaning toward a certain direction already so my input isn't necessary. The kids thing was what you started out with so I thought that was a consideration in determining which track you would take. I would think of moving closer to home to help with the kids.

Speaking of, Owen is totally MIA, even on IM and I don't know what the deal is.

You can make your own shishi here. I'm having problems with the picture upload function too. Bah. But I'll get you a shishi if you want, from Asia.

follow up

I haven't tried posting any pics debs. I thought the one you put up before was really nice. Just to add to my previous statement, my friend said that the RN track sounds like a good track for you as it's flexible and cost effective. He said RNs make about $30-40/hr. Once you get this you can go for the Masters (MSN right?) anytime. He says what's 'unusual' is cuz most people who do really well in the academic world don't usually go the vocational route (?). He says people going through the master's program usually have a specialty or want to be a nurse practioner. He did mention that when you go through the Masters Program after doing the RN route, you might be required to take a semester's worth (2-6 classes) of refresher/core classes. You might know all this stuff already debs, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

alright, tty guys later!

I can't freaking post a pic anymore!!!!

Are you guys having any problems?

It's gonna be short...okay, maybe not.

Serina, you got it and Em so did not. I realize that I wasn't that clear but I couldn't have been that unclear if Serina got it. By the way, thanks for your message, Serina. It's definitely the route I'm thinking.
For those of you who did not get, it's: shell out a whopping $50K for the BSN and then later another whopping $50K for the Masters OR get the RN education for less now and then shell out the whopping $50K later for the Masters. Currently, the Masters is somewhere in my future plan; it's the method of getting there that I'm working on. I think I've got it figured though. I just need to look up a couple of details b/4 committing. Oh yeah, and I have to get into a program.
Kids were just extra information--I want them in a couple of years--meaning we're not trying quite yet. It will be after school. Dude, em, how are you going to help me take care of the little monsters? I know you can do it, but from NY? You're not that great of a genius.
Is Owen in tune with all of us? How come he doesn't want to join in the fun? Why is he just sitting out in the sidelines? I can't believe he took you off of his myspace friends. Aren't you his favorite sister? Gosh, what the hell does that make the rest of us now?
Good job on getting your tickets! All of those countries sound nice. I also heard Vietnam was really cool. I do have something in mind as a souvenir. I have been wanting a Shishi Odishi, which is a deer scare. Here's a pic:
What the hell is up with the image loader!!!!! Okay, I'm done wasting my time trying to figure it out. I'll put it on the next post.
Anyways, I think it will look nice in the garden and James likes the sound it makes.
I don't think you should worry about mommy and yeeyee. Just try to ignore them b/c they're only going to make you more upset. Let them do their own thing while you take gonggong around.
The renunion thing sounds good but we'll have to change the location every couple of years--to a fun location hopefully. I might only be doing one vacation a year and to spend my saved income on the same vacation spot every year would get boring.

Caffeine High

I'm a little shaky from caffeine but I probably needed it as I was super tired earlier. On second thought, I guess deb's email wasn't super clear. Your comprehesion skills are probably still in check. Debs, I kind of disregarded the kid thing as I wasn't sure where you were going with it. I hope you're not discouraged cuz of the Masters Programs. You still got the highest score in chem, remember? :-D Anyway, I called you giving my or rather, my friend's input. He is about 40 yrs old and pretty knowledgable in the med. field. He also used to be an EMT and friends who were nurses and doctors and what not. Anyway, he says get your RN license. It's not cost effective or practical to get a second bachelor's. The only reason you would want one is if you want to do admin stuff and besides, you already have one. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Em, I turned 21 a while ago and I remember you telling me that when I was younger. I'm thinking Vegas would be cool. I do want to practice gambling prior though as I realized I don't really have a handle on that and I would say there's a bit of learning involved. Japan sounds very cool. Japan first, then Vegas? or vice versa? Might as well make that a family thing too. I'd bring Viv along as her weirdness may attract some positive energy and her luck can be surprising. (you know I think you're cool viv, well, sort of.. :-D haha, jk).

I wanted to do a road trip to Niagra Falls. I keep forgetting it's above that side of the world. I'm trying to save money so no go for me on NY. I heard plane tickets are hella cheap to China. $800-1400 round trip from SFO or Chicago on United or American. I don't know if you bought your tickets yet but check it out if you can. :)

yelp.com is a good source/ guidance to look for good food and location spots. You guys (yiyi and 'em) might want to look at that. I should probably tell yiyi that so maybe she can plan better.

alrighty, ttyl!

I bet you could Google your life crises.

Because I don't even get the question. Damn. My powers of comprehension have diminished steadily since I've gotten out of school. Either that or it's the booze. I should've listened to Lisa when she told Homer that alcohol kills brain cells.

So Deb, can you go to school and have kids at the same time? I mean...are you guys trying now? Sometimes it takes a while. Though actually, considering the size of our hips and genetic history, you probably should use protection up until the day you want to conceive. Anyway, if you're going to spend $50K for a bachelor's, I say do it now before the diapers and the formula. Don't you have to be an RN for a couple of years before you can go for MSN? Aren't RN's relegated to the drudgery of the hospital? Isn't the whole point of going for the Master's to bypass the drudgery and basically be on par with Dr. status? And it sounds like you're questioning whether you want to be a nurse at all...

Anyway, when you start popping out the beasts, I'll help you take care of them. Look how well Viv and O turned out. (Right, Viv? Say yes or I'll beat you.)

Serina, I told Debbie that I was taking you to Vegas the minute you hit 21. I was going to take you to every craps table and rake in the money. It was my master plan. So...want to go to Vegas?

Viv, if you tear down the wall between mine and Deb's room just make sure you're not hitting any wiring. It's plaster so it should be okay. Wear a mask, please.

Owen deleted my from his myspace friends. I think he got pissed because I was making comments about all the hoochie mamas on his site. Or....he's got a girlfriend and he's hiding it from us. LoL.

Tira's visiting this weekend and I'm so excited. And...I bought my tickets to Asia. I'm going for 20 days, yo. What do you guys want? I'm going to hit Singapore, Cambodia, Thailand and Hong Kong. Yeah! Not going to Japan because of the cost and I have a feeling Nance wants to do that with Ken. So, I was thinking we should do a family trip to Japan! Wouldn't that be great? All of 5 us (and James, too). When do you think? Maybe next summer? I told Owen to get a job so he can save up for it. He's so funny, he's learning Japanese online now.

Anyway I decided to push back the departure date so I could spend some time with Gong Gong while he's here. Mommy said he probably wouldn't be back in NY and he and I always talk about him coming. I wish I could be with him for the whole trip but I want to spend at least 3 weeks in Asia and I have to fly back on a certain date b/c my friend is coming to visit me. (We're doing a road trip to Niagra Falls.) Mommy and Yiyi will probably drive me nuts and I'm worried about them wandering around in the city looking for a freaking restaurant, lost and confused (remember LA?), asking random strangers where to go, or what to do...Gong gong will probably just leave them. Ha.

tidbit for now

Nice pic debs. I will ask a friend or two about your dilemma. I think they might be able to provide good feedback. LOL. I thought your paragraph about me was SOO funny. I kept laughing about it with viv on the phone. I didn't know you could be that funny. haha. alright, it's super late, tty'all later!

a bit of spring on our street

Dilemma--need your opinions

Glad you're feeling better, Em. No, I have not started the blog for my in-laws yet. I was waiting to hear an innovative name from you. Are you going to be in NY when they visit? I thought you were not.

James surprised me the other day with our anniversary present early. It's still tentative, but you know how the 1st anniversary is paper? He was wondering what I thought about tickets to Europe. It works, right? Of course, I loved the idea! But it's still tentative. We'll price it out in the next couple of weeks. I'm thinking two weeks to visit Italy and Paris, with the majority of time in Italy.

I hear viv is using both our rooms: mine for sleeping and yours for studio. And she might be taking down a wall in your room..j/k, but she did mention it.

Serina, when you were 3 (I think...or at least somewhere around elementary school time), we all said you were probably going to win the lottery someday. We didn't count on the fact that you'd be too stingy to even play the Lotto! Girl, you are lucky at all these gambling things! You should put away $1 every month to play Lotto. I'm sure you'd eventually win. You can give up $1 a month, can't you?

Viv, you've been really out of touch, huh? Did you turn into a hermit b/c your roommates suck so much? I love your new sense of crudeness! You use to be such a priss. I died laughing when you described your Pilates excursion.."jiggled" your "squishy butt" onto someone else's mat....LOL..I'm dying. Sorry I combined them, I had the visuals of your previous paragraph still in my head. About the tattoo--don't you read EVERY WORD I WRITE! I wrote different colors either in the paragraph above or below the pic. I have not watched the show much b/c they intersperse it with music videos (am I thinking of the right one?) and that bugs me. I have checked out books from the library.

Okay on to my sort of dilemma. It's got to do with my whole career and having kids thing. I didn't necessarily think it all the way through when I first made the decision to go back to school. The plan was to try having babies two years after being married. James and I were thinking I would be stay-at-home mom for a few years to get the kids going. Then I decided on nursing school, still thinking I'd be able to have kids right after I graduate--in two years. But if I'm going to be a stay-at-home in the beginning, what is the point of shelling out $50K for a second Bachelors (BSN-bachelors of Science in Nursing)? I didn't get into either of the master programs. I think I am most likely going to get into the bachelors but I'm thinking I should just do the RN (community/specialty school) b/c it won't cost as much. That way I'll still be set up to work after the kids are a bit older. After I've been in the field I like awhile, I can then decide if I want to spend $50K for a Masters. You can go from RN to MSN. My original plan was to shell out $50K for the BSN (b/c I didn't get into the Masters) and then later shell out another $50K for the masters. But I think this new plan (RN-Masters) is a bit more logical for my lifestlye and pocketbook. What do you all think? Do you guys have friends that are nurses?

Hey

So finally got some sleep last night and am feeling less cracked out. I can't believe a month has gone by already since I've been laid off. I thought I'd be 20 lbs. skinnier already.

Mommy, Yiyi, and Gong Gong are coming to visit New York in April. Any of you guys want to come out?

Deb, are you and James doing anything for your anniversary? Did you get that website up for the in-laws?

Viv, are you moving back this weekend? Are you using my old room for you studio space or Deb's?

Friday, March 9, 2007

Hey serina i forgot to mention. Have you heard of the Gotan Project? I think you'd like them they're kinda a salsa/ jazzy band. You should check them out. I actually like them a lot.
Sorry Em,
Sounds like you've been having a bad week! I thought Christmas was are family reunion? I think we should have two.
So I think I might be suffering from exhaustion...

Thursday, March 8, 2007

Dude

I am so freaking tired. I went to a funeral today for a friend's sister and it was so draining and sad.

I just want to crawl into bed and pass out.

We should have a family reunion every year.

Dennis owes you $2

Viv was polite to ask, a better alternative than me. I just stuck in my two cents. I apologize if I came off poorly.

There goes my $2

My roommate Dennis cleaned (which I can't really complain about) but I think in the process he threw out my $2 winning Lotto ticket.

No, I do not need a pep talk. Thanks everyone. I am done complaining. I'll work it out on my own.

Viv's funny

Hi there,

Em, you won two bucks!!! That's cool! I tried winning the mega million since last week (two weeks in a row). It's not really my style but Brian convinced me (we spent $12 total). I had been on a winning streak after winning $20 at a local casino, $6 on scratchers, and then a free scratchers ticket within the last 6 weeks or so. :-D On Tuesday morning, I was telling one of my coworkers I was thinking about going to HR to tell them I quit cuz I'm going to win the lotto. lol, jk. we had 6 set of numbers and we didn't even get ONE number. darn. maybe it was beginner's luck and it has come and gone...for now. :) i'm all about the small winnings neway. next time i'll just go for only one billion. hahaha. well, i guess it's up to debbie for this round. maybe the parents won something. ^_^

Owen has not accepted his invite, which is why he hasn't posted. I suspect he doesn't realize he has to check his google account? That's why Viv couldn't post. She had to go to the specific email regarding the invite.

Well I hope you feel better em. When James clears his history, it's probably cuz he wants you to be curious like he's hiding something. He could be trying to create this aura of mystery when he probably doesn't really have anything. Some guys are weird like that, trying to regain some power he thinks you have in the relationship. If he really wants to be with you (sounds like he likes you a lot), tell him that his discomfort/mistrust in the relationship stems from his own insecurities and he shouldn't be blaming you or trying to create mistrust cuz of that. It's counterproductive and then proceed to tell him that he has no reason to mistrust you as you've done nothing to receive his punishing behavior. tough love but maybe it'll give him some perspective...

Alright, tty guys later!

Whats going on...

Hey guys,
So I'm finally on! I need a haircut badly I'm starting to look a little shabby, so maybe this weekend. I'm not sure what to do yet but something needs to be done with all this hair!!! Yes I am moving back home and I'm not sure if I got into CCA yet. My acceptance was delayed because there was some mix up with my transcripts, but I am planning to apply for this internship that has offices in SF, seattle, Shanghai and London. I debating which office to apply to. Its either Shanghai or London though. Tough call isn't it? I also plan to apply to three more so it should be awesome. I might be able to do two seeing as how most of them are for the summer.
I'm a little sad to stop my learning and model making for a bit and I am worried about getting into CCA and the differences in schools but hopefully it will all be for the better. I have millions of plans for my time off. Including:
Make furniture
Learn how to fix a car? How it works
Scholarships-essays: 2 a week/ writing reading
Keep up with Arce practice
Learn a different language (maybe 2)
internships
(intern for dwell magazine?)
Work/intern in Anna's monoprint studio or take classes
Learn and practice sketchup, adobe photoshop, and Indesign
Build up and format my portfolio
I am excited!!!

I have been talking to Mommy a bit and I think she's irritated by me, but about what I'm not sure. LOTTO!! I didn't know it was that high. I don't think it exist down here really. News really doesn't (I just found out Britney Spears went crazy? How long ago was that? and Anna Nicole Smith passed away. I have no sense of pop culture).

I AM GETTING FAT!!! but chocolate is a good butt insulator and squishy butts make good cushions for studio chairs! (Yeah yeah make comments about how vulgar I am, but do you judge Serina when she claims she needs to poop every time you talk to her...yeah ask yourself that question!) Sorry Serina don't mean to pick on you but its already a well spread fact.

I'm also taking Pilates which I tell you is some tough stuff. I can't do half the roll-up moves and I rolled and jiggled my way by accident onto someone's mat, but its okay it was the kid that did all the moves perfectly, might as well take him down if I'm gonna go down too. ( I bet you, I did half the class a favor!)

That is a cool tattoo debs. Are you going for exactly like that or different colors? Do you watch Miami tattoo? its actually an interesting show. It shows tatoo artists tatooing live and you get to see what the customer's designs are. Its actually really inspiring.

hey em. do you want me to give you a pep talk? and how about spandex or tights?

I figured it out with the Serina

YAY!!!

New Post button

THere's a "New Post" button next to the Customize and Sign out buttons--upper right corner. You may have to sign in. Sorry for the short post but I need to get to bed--lack of sleep. I'll post more tomorrow.

Have you guys seen this?

It's the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie!

So drinking half a bottle of wine last night and drunk dialing James was probably not a good idea

Owen just emailed me and asked what I was talking about. I swear, he's probably the most web savvy out of all of us and he's still lagging.

Anyway, Serina has been leaving comments one each of our posts. So if you go back and look at old posts and click on the comments section, you'll see what she's written in the past. It's better to just write a new post than to leave comments though, just for that reason. It's easier to tell when someone has read or updated the blog when you see a new post.

Deb: I tried to sketch something out for you but it wasn't coming out right. Probably because I was doing it in black pen and it really needs to be in color. I'll try again.

So my friend Jill hired me to be her personal assistant, part-time. It's sort of fun and gets me out of bed but at the same time it's 20 degrees out here so I kind of wish I could stay in bed. But I'm doing random stuff like taking her dress to get hemmed and sending letters and packages out for her. She's the one I always dog sit for. I swore I would never be anyone's assistant again but she's my friend so I don't mind as much.

My head is pounding. I was bored and depressed last night and decided wine and a lotto ticket would help so I convinced my roommate, Dennis, to drink a bottle with me and to trek into the cold and buy a lotto ticket with me and then stay up and wait for the winning numbers. We didn't win. But I did get the Mega number. I still haven't figured out if I get anything from that. Do you guys know? Also, I drunk dialed James and told him I didn't trust him which probably wasn't the best move but I don't and now I don't know where to go from here. Doesn't he know that I'm too lazy to check up on him? I don't want to be the type of person that's wondering what's going on, who this person is or why he clears the history every time he checks his email on my computer. What the hell? I AM TOO LAZY FOR THIS CRAP. Doesn't he know me at all? Can't he just be honest? The sad thing is, even if he were honest, would I believe him? I'm beginning to see why people say once the trust is gone it's hard to go on. It's like that Elvis Presley song, "Suspicious Minds." I don't want to be that person - the crazy chick that is always worried about some random speck of dust indicating he's lying to her.

I'm tempted to blame it all on global warming. It's the scapegoat for everything else.

Speaking of bad weather, it seemed like spring was here last weekend when it was sunny and bright and 46 degrees but then it turned around and dropped to 30 degrees and now I'm pissed because it got my hopes up only to be CRUSHED. And I can only wear my leggings for so many days in a row.

I hate depression.

Comments?

I don't get what you're talking about with the comments. Is there some part of the blog I'm not looking at? Anyways, I have no idea about which boar it is. I just know that it's the year of the boar. I do remember now that you had told me you were taking classes with Yolanda. She was my teacher too and she is great. Have you gone out into the 'real world' to try salsa-ing yet?

Interesting element you add to my tattoo pic...I'll consider. It would be helpful if you could sketch something out. I'm not exactly seeing it how I want to see it...I liked the wind swirls. Did you have fun sketching in the park with your boyfriend? That sounded like a nice way to spend time together. The house is open to you guys whenever you decide to visit.

Yes, James went out to buy a lotto ticket. Wish us luck! Cross all your toes and fingers for us! =)

We've been having great weather these last two days. So good I actually think spring is here. The cherry blossoms along our street all just burst into bloom today! Just last week it was snowing, but somehow now, it's all sunshine. It's almost a 30 degree difference b/w last and this week! I don't know what is going on with the world. I just hope it stays warm.

Where's viv by the way? I know she read the first post b/c she left a comment. But for the most part she's MIA. Is it b/c of finals?

And Owen, does he read this? He hasn't made any contributions.

Sorry!

I only emailed you twice! And I was just kidding. I wasn't really threatening you. But yeah, I was wondering why you didn't just post posts instead of comments. Anyway, I don't know what the deal is about the fire vs. golden boar year. I read an article in the New York Times about the Golden Boar year but maybe that's not the best source for info.

Anyway, Deb, I like the tat pic that you posted. I think you should do a variation of that, where instead of the "wind" swirls, you should have snake scales: light and moving in a liquid-like pattern across your back.

Did you guys buy lotto today? The jackpot is over $300 million. It's so freaking cold out here today. It makes me homesick.

long responses

My comments are so long they could be posts themselves. I've decided write them as posts, as it may be a little easier to access and friendlier to the eye for keeping up with Em's emails of telling me to post.

hey em, i think that article was wrong. i heard twice this year is the year of the fire boar. both from mommy and a chinese zodiac website. also, "golden pig" isn't as special as it sounds. u no how there are the elements fire, air, wind, and water signs in the "regular" zodiac? there is something like that in the chinese zodiac as well. the chinese zodiac is gold, water, wood, fire, and something else. anyway, there are about 5 elements so of course, every 60 yrs, it's going to fall on a different element for each animal. i saw the same article u sent me in a paper copy of the economist. maybe there was a bad translator. neway, it is supposed to be a lucky year for the boar due to the placement of stars but cuz the stars are placed that way, it's 'chance-y' as well. i'll get that article to you eventually. ttyl!

Ugh.

I wrote a really long post with pictures and everything and stupid Safari quit on me and I lost it all.

Suffice it to say, "Congratulations on chem grade, Deb. You should make a T shirt (it was funnier the first time around). Mommy didn't really care when I talked to her. She sort of "yeah, yeah, yeah-ed" me off the phone. Serins, I thought this year would be good for you b/c it's the Golden Boar. Viv did you see Snow Patrol? I'm going to see Bloc Party at the end of this month. I'm going to a dim sum bday party for my roommate today and then James and I are going to the Met to draw the statues. I'm travelling starting in April, would like to go to Seattle but probably not until after May. Probably Tonga for a bit to visit a friend."

Did you guys see the lunar eclipse last night?

Response

dang lack of user friendliness! couldn't the "post" button for a while.

neway so far, i've mainly been posting comments on all of your posts. this current post contains some responses to a few of your guys' posts.

Congrats to debs on getting the highest score in your chem class. that's really great! best of luck to you in being accepted in a program.

I have an idea regarding why mommy and daddy are praying and concerned about our health. (note: several days ago daddy sent me an email asking for my address. he wanted to pray for my health. from the other posts, it looks like i'm not the only one.) Here's my theory: As you guys know, this year is the year of the Boar. My chinese horoscope says to watch my health. I could see how this might affect the snake as it's the opposite sign, but I'm not too sure about the rest of the signs. There is some more info on my xanga site, if you guys want to check it out. I will post the link to that eventually. that's it.

I haven't heard from mommy in a while altho I've been meaning to call and see how she's doing.
work's been really busy. things look like they will mellow out after march. salsa has been the highlight of the new year. debs, i take a class at ucsd with yolanda. she's great and it's fun. i'm enjoying it.

alright, talk to you peeps later! :)

new blog for my other family

Em, I'm thinking about creating a blog for James' side of the family, so I can keep up with their news. Can you search your creative abilities to come up with an innovative name for it? Tinlin and Ostiguy are the main names. Can you come up with anything good with that?

Hello back!

I had a chem test on Tueday and work has been busy. Yes, James and I are both fighting/recovering from colds. What do you meaned "marked" ? Is that good or bad? Or do I want to know. Anyways I just found out that I have the top score in my chem class. That's reassuring, in case I get in a program. Still waiting.
It snowed here in Seattle on Wednesday and there are still some flurries coming down right now. Can you believe it? It's snowing in March! I have the day off today. Jackie is coming over to teach me her secret recipe of making Mac n Cheese. I'm going to try to work in the garden a bit. What have you been doing with your days off, em?
I'm glad for you that mommy took it well. Mommy called me Tuesday night; it was right after I read your blog, em, the one where you said you were telling her that night. I thought it was funny that she was calling me and I swear that she was going to start talking about you, but she didn't. Not even a mention of you. She talked a little about viv moving back and a lot about how Owen was driving her crazy (I did tell her that Owen driving her crazy was her fault). We didn't talk about anything too important, just catching up. You think she was calling b/c that might have been the day she found out I am "marked"? Maybe she calling to make sure I was all right or something...
So Em, now that you all this free time, maybe you can make a trip to Seatlle? I'd wait a few weeks b/c of this unexpected snow is slowing the blooms, but the cherry blossoms are beginning to bloom and this city is full of them. I think the best time to come is in the spring. But I think you're going to Asia then. Remember to post a lot of pictures so we can live vicariously through you.
Serina, salsa dancing must be fun. I use to love it. Are you taking classes or just going out at night? Are you going to watch "Dancing with the Stars"? I love that show.
Viv, you must be excited to move back home. How is everything going by the way? Chin up, it's only a couple more weeks. Did you get into the Academy of Arts or are you still waiting to hear back?
You all know that you're welcome to visit anytime. Just give me a heads up. =)

Hello?

I guess I shouldn't complain about being the only one posting since I'm the only one that's unemployed but c'mon people.

So

I talked to Mommy last night and told her that I was taking a couple of months off from work and she seemed to take it really, really well. Is she on some sort of medication? Just kidding.

She also mentioned Viv leaving school and moving back home and she said you (Viv) were making a mature decision. So I don't know if she's rethought your decision, Viv, and realized that you know what you're doing or she just knows that I'll take your side regardless...but she sounded okay. I still don't think she realizes that you're majoring in architecture and not art though.

She mentioned you and James were sick, Deb. You guys okay? She said something in Chinese about you being "marked." It sounded pretty serious but it was probably just one of those Chinese expressions that does not translate well into English.

Things are good with me. I'm planning to go to Asia in April with Nance and then going to Niagra Falls in May with my friend Sam. I also invited James to the Niagra Falls trip. It should be interesting. I'm looking forward to it. Have you guys seen Wonderfalls? That's all I know about Niagra Falls. Hopefully magical animals will start talking to me.
